Signal of change / Luxury French fashion label goes into voluntary liquidation in order to re-launch as a sustainable brand

By Katie Shaw / 04 Nov 2018

Luxury French fashion label Vionnet announced in October that it would be going into voluntary liquidation in order to re-launch itself as a sustainable brand. Having worked on a "sustainable collection" earlier in 2018, the brand's Chairwoman and Creative Director, Goga Ashkenazi, said that she came to realise the enormity of the challenge faced by companies trying to improve their practices and that the company would need to be completely restructured in order "to be absolutely credible in our revolution".

Whilst some may view this as a smart PR stunt, time will tell if this is the beginning of something more meaningful for the brand - and whether other bold companies will follow suit.
